about
Laura Pugno’s works are an invitation to enter into the landscape, enriching the analysis of the increasingly blurred boundaries between human and non-human, and stimulating contemplation of the territory as an extension of the knowable or as its boundary. Her art is process-oriented and involves a direct engagement with nature and its elements; she works with diverse media and materials, among which drawing, photography, sculpture and video. Environmental and ecological themes – at the centre of her work – are explored via interaction between art and science; in recent years, this dialogue has become essential for talking about the territories that we are losing.
In 2022 she won the Sustainable Art Prize, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. In 2020 she was among the winners of the 9th Edition of the Italian Council, promoted by MIC. In 2013 she received the Cairo Prize XIV. Her solo exhibitions include those at A Tale of A Tub, Rotterdam (2022); SÜDPOL, Lucerne (2022); Cittadellarte, Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella (2021); MUSE, Palazzo delle Albere, Trento (2021); Nida Art Colony, Lithuania (2019); Peola Simondi, Turin (2019, 2014, 2010, 2007); MART, Rovereto (2014); MAN, Nuoro (2013); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2012). Her group exhibitions include those at Circolo del Design, Turin (2023); Peola Simondi Gallery, Turin (2023); Casa Italia – Giochi Olimpici, Beijing (2022); Reggia di Venaria Reale, Venaria (2021); Museo Nazionale della Montagna, Turin (2020); Fondazione del Monte, Bologna (2019); Forum Stadtpark, Graz, with which she won the Q-International Spring award of the La Quadriennale di Roma (2018); Casa Masaccio, Arezzo (2017); MAGASIN, Grenoble (2016).
